Open uri20180711 8496 1o3l8gq

This classic Santa Fe food and drink adventure is focused on Santa Fe's downtown Plaza neighborhood. You will explore Santa Fe by foot while sampling the best in local food and wine. You will have a chance to sample classic New Mexican flavors, as well as get a taste of what’s new and exciting in Santa Fe’s food scene.

What You'll Do

Meet at 1 p.m. in front of Santa Fe Dry Goods on the Plaza. Over the course of the tour, you'll walk approximately a mile and a half while visiting two sit-down restaurants, a winery tasting room, and one additional food or drink establishment. What brings this tour to life is the stories behind the restaurants you'll get a chance to visit. You'll learn about how New Mexican food was shaped over centuries by a mixing of different culinary traditions. You will visit both Santa Fe's most traditional "must eat at" Mexican/New Mexican restaurants as well as some of the newest, currently "trending" restaurants. A few favorite stops on this tour are listed below. Please note we only visit four stops on every tour (not all). Cheesemongers of Santa Fe, Sazon, Coyote Cafe, Gruet Winery Tasting Room, Noisy Water Winery, La Lecheria New Mexico Craft Ice Cream, El Callejon, Eloisa, Del Charro Saloon. Historical and cultural sights you will see are listed below. Please note that we do not visit or go inside any of these sites, but rather they are seen from the exterior and discussed during the historical portion of the tour. Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis, Loretto Chapel, Santa Fe Plaza, Palace of the Governors.

"Exceptional tour, that I would..."

March 31, 2018 -

Exceptional tour, that I would highly recommend. The restaurants en route were of a very high standard and, between
them, offered a varied and interesting selection of tastes and drinks. The historic component of the tour gave me a much better understanding of how the city of Santa Fe evolved. The tour guides were entertaining and knowledgeable.

"Elizabeth was an excellent tour..."

March 5, 2018 -

Elizabeth was an excellent tour guide! You could tell she had a geniuine passion for Santa Fe, it's history and it's culture. This was conveyed in the information she provided during the tour. The walk was easy and there were plenty of stopping points. Hard to say what my favorite part of the tour was. We sampled wonderful cheeses at Cheese Monger, excellent tacos at El Callejon, excellent moles at Sazon and wonderful sparkling wines at Gruet. All I can say is the experience was so good, I want to return to Santa Fe!! Thank you Elizabeth!

"Perfect way to combine a..."

Perfect way to combine a basic walking tour of the city with a variety of local tastings. The mole sauces at the last stop were so good that we made dinner reservations and had a wonderful meal that evening. The tour guide- who also owns the tour company - cares about the experience and did a great job putting together the tasting venues.

"Having the right expectations is..."

October 14, 2017 -

Having the right expectations is the key to any great experience, and mine -- I realize entirely from my own devices -- were too high. I didn't eat lunch before the tour, thinking that we would be feasting from stop to stop. We did not. It was two hours into the tour before we sat down for anything 'substantial' - 2 appetizer size tacos. That followed three bites of cheese at our first stop. We next went to a wine tasting room of a New Mexico winery specializing in sparkling wines I don't care for sparkling much, but our server luckily snuck me a couple still wine pours - which were fantastic! I wish I just bought a bottle and stayed on their patio! Lastly we hit a mole tasting, which was very interesting and enjoyable, just not very filling.
So, at the time I was disappointed with the tour however, if I had just eaten beforehand, been prepared to appreciate the actual historical information I was being given instead of being so focused on getting more food, I think I would've had a very lovely time!

"This tour took us to..."

September 1, 2017 -

This tour took us to a number of downtown food and drink places including an incredible cheese shop where a world class cheese monger gave us a lesson in cheese making plus samples - wonderful! Another stop was a taqueria where the generous owners treated our group to tacos and beer along with their family story of starting the restaurant. I imagine the establishments will change from time to time but Joe, our guide, curates this tour and clearly works hard to make his tours memorable.

Great tour and information about Santa Fe food scene. Well spent afternoon

"Awesome tour, great fun, great..."

July 13, 2017 -

Awesome tour, great fun, great tour guide, good food and wine. Top of the line tour. We had a terrific time getting to know the others in the tour and the tour guide! I would do this again !

"My mom and I had..."

March 19, 2017 -

My mom and I had a great time on the Sip and Savor food tour in Santa Fe on March 4th. All the places were great and distinct - I wish we would have had more time at the pub and the option to purchase drinks and maybe a bit less at the Cheese Shop although it was wonderful!. Quite a bit of history on the tour - you can actually just wait for it here instead of taking the tour at the Palace of the Governors. I wish we had stopped in the Loretto Chapel - the tour went long an extra hour! and we didn't have a chance to get there before it closed at 4:30pm. Loved the stop at Sazon - the chef is delightful and a true treasure of Santa Fe - we were happy to spend the extra time as his guests. This is a great experience for those visiting Santa Fe or even for locals!.

"The tour was basically as..."

March 18, 2017 -

The tour was basically as billed, but the proportion of food: alcohol was way out of whack for me. Too much tequila and sparkling wine, too little solid food. Everything was very good, though, and Joe I think that was his name, owns Wander NM was friendly and knowledgeable. Great stop at the cheesemonger!

"Santa Fe 'Sip and Savor'..."

February 27, 2017 -

Santa Fe 'Sip and Savor' Food Tour lived up to our expectations. Our guide, Joe, was personable, knowledgeable about the history of Santa Fe and kept the tour moving at a pleasant pace. The places we visited were varied and the food and drink excellent. Also, he was well prepared, having hand warmers for those of us unprepared for the cold!

"This trip was the highlight..."

February 13, 2017 -

This trip was the highlight of my trip to Santa Fe. The host was well-prepared and gave us much information as we walked the streets of downtown Santa Fe. We had a few culinary experiences we would have never experienced otherwise and I highly recommend this to anyone who wants the history of the foods of the southwest.
