Comfortable, casual attire is recommended. We recommend comfortable walking shoes for all of our tours. Though the city tour portion has no walking, the museum portion requires walking. All tours will require walking from the mini bus to the venue and back, so you may consider weather as a factor in your outfit decision. There is not a gift shop at the museum. The Tour Guide will be happy to recommend area gift shops if you are looking for one.
Our tours are perfect for any age group and any "fitness level." Guests must be prepared for walking in the 70,000 square foot museum, though there are limited places to sit. Guests must be able to walk from the pick up location to the bus, and from the bus to the museum and back, without assistance. Though most of our tours are open to all ages, the content and concepts contained in our narrative, are frequently geared more toward adults. We will be cognizant of younger guests and will consider that in our narrative on that particular tour.
Your meeting/pick up location is your hotel, or other agreed upon location. WE DO NOT PICK UP FROM PRIVATE RESIDENCES OR AIR B&B DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES. Please call the phone number in your confirmation email to arrange accordingly. We pickup under or nearby the awning located outside of your hotel's main entry door. Unless you are notified of us coming in another vehicle, please look for the small white bus with the Redstick Adventures Logo and the blue cityscape on the side. If you are needing to be picked up at your hotel, please indicate your hotel name and its address in “The Delivery Address” section in the box which will appear at checkout. Otherwise, you can meet us at : 275/300 River Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70801 (under the green information gazebo).
Yourself, any guests or family members in your party, a camera (or smart phone/tablet with a camera), a desire to learn while having a good time, and a sense of humor.
We will call you to arrange a pick up time, but typically we need you to be ready 20 minutes or less before the tour start time.
If you are joining us at the Information/Transportation Gazebo on South River Road, there is metered parking along River Road, up North Blvd. and within walking distance. We also recommend parking in one of the two the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino's free covered garages located either behind the casino, or next door to USS Kidd Museum. The cost of any parking is not included in the tour admission cost and will not be reimbursed by Red Stick Adventures. We also do not have the ability to "validate" any parking vouchers/coupons you may receive.
Only bottle drinks with a cap are allowed. No fountain drinks, covered/uncovered coffee cups, open cups/glasses are allowed. No food, candy, gum, mints or other "snacks" are allowed for sanitation purposes and for the comfort of our other guests. No food or drink is allowed in the museum. Thank you for respecting this policy.
Unfortunately, we are not handicap accessible. Unfortunately, our buses are not handicap-lift equipped and for insurance reasons, our drivers are not able to offer assistance. * A printed tour is available for any hearing impaired guests who may join us on our tour. Strollers and walkers are not permitted, unless they can fit directly in front of you in your seat area only. Due to space limitations, and for the comfort of all of our guests, strollers are typically not permitted on the tours. Child-carrier backpacks, slings, and front-packs are allowed and highly recommended.

Please be aware of weather changes and come prepared for rapidly changing weather. Tours cancelled by Red Stick Adventures: Tours may be rescheduled or cancelled due to demand, road closures, museum closure, mechanical failure or extreme weather. In the event that tours are cancelled by Red Stick Adventures, you will receive a full refund. We apologize in advance if this occurs. There is a no refund policy except for tours cancelled prior to 24 hours before the tour time starts. Tours cancelled by guests/purchasers(s): Tours may be cancelled by the guest/ticket purchaser(s) up to 24 hours in advance of the scheduled tour, and purchaser will receive a refund. Tours cancelled by guest/purchaser anytime after the 24 hour refund window, are non-refundable, no exceptions. Same day tours are non-refundable. In the rare event that a passenger's behavior, or their children's behavior, causes the driver to have to stop the tour and have that guest and/or child leave the bus, or be escorted off by law enforcement, no refund will be issued for any party involved in said event. In the unfortunate event that a passenger's physical health deteriorates during the tour, causing a need to have the tour stop to have the passenger seek medical assistance, or the passenger chooses to prematurely end the tour due to health concerns, no refund will be issued.
Red Stick Adventures tours operate rain or shine, unless there is closure due to an extreme weather event (such as torrential storms, tropical storms, hurricanes, or in the extreme rare event- snow) or closures of most of our accessible areas due to circumstances beyond our control (such as parades, or festivals) or acts of nature/God. On rainy days, we suggest wearing water-resistant shoes, bringing an extra pair of socks, wearing a poncho or raincoat, and/or carrying an umbrella. The bulk of the tour is inside either the bus or the museum, so please do not allow weather to be a hindrance to your tour.
I grew up in BR and never knew all the information I learned on this tour. I was most impressed with our tour guide, Susan. She made the tour interesting and fun! Would highly recommend this tour!
Learned many new things about the history of Baton Rouge that I didn't know even though I've lived in Baton Rouge for one year. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly!
