You’ll hear about the Passion, Politics, Drama & Adventure while seeing Stately Mansions, Plantations, Churches, Acadian Homes, Homes of former politicians, Historic Civil War Sites and our famous “Cities of the Dead,” and much more! the barn (which houses artifacts dealing with every day rural life), and the Louisiana cultural area, which is a collection of buildings representing the different house types common to different areas of Louisiana. Your tour ticket cost includes roundtrip transportation to and from your hotel (limited areas- call us to discuss), admission to the 1-hour guided, narrated rural life museum and grounds tour, plus a short city tour. It’s basically two tours for the price of one! You can’t get that by taking your own car, taxi, or any other way.
Comfortable, casual attire is recommended. We recommend comfortable walking shoes for all of our tours. Though the city tour portion has no walking, the rural life museum portion requires moderate walking. All tours will require walking from the mini bus to the venue and back, so you may consider weather as a factor in your outfit decision. There is a gift shop at the museum. You may want to consider bringing some money if you like to "shop."
Our tours are perfect for any age group and any "fitness level." The grounds of this tour are primarily dirt, gravel, and grass. Guests will have a moderate amount of walking on this tour. Guests must be able to walk from the pick up location to the bus, and from the bus to the museum and back, without assistance. Wheelchairs are available on site for those concerned with walking the grounds. Though most our tours are open to all ages, the content and concepts contained in our narrative are geared more toward adults, however. For larger groups with more children (reserved groups of more than 6), we can accommodate a different narrative for a younger audience, with a minimum of 24 hours advanced notice.
Your meeting/pick up location is your hotel, or other agreed upon location. We pickup under or nearby the awning located outside of your hotel's main entry door. Unless you are notified of us coming in another vehicle, please look for the small white bus with our logo and the blue cityscape on the side. If you are needing to be picked up at your hotel, please indicate your hotel name and its address in "the delivery address" section in the box which will appear at checkout.
